Germany – König Ludwig wheat beer “the world’s best wheat beer”

The World’s Best Beers have been crowned by Beers of the World, the international consumer beer magazine, edited by Roger Protz. Four bottled beers scooped the title of “World’s Best” in the final round of the annual World Beer Awards.

An international panel of judges tasted their way through hundreds of entries from the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Australia and beyond to find the winners of each style. These style winners then went head to head at a blind tasting event, where the UK’s top brewers selected the best beers in each category.

World’s Best Lager: Primator Exkluziv, 16%

World’s Best Ale: Tripel Karmeliet

World’s Best Stout/Porter: Rogue Shakespeare Stout

World’s Best Wheat Beer: Kaltenberg König Ludwig Weissbier

His Royal Highness, Prince Luitpold of Bavaria feels particularly chuffed as two other beers brewed at his brewery also won medals: The title “World’s Best Premium Lager” was given to his Kaltenberg Spezial and the title “World’s Best Doppelbock” to his Kaltenberg Ritterbock.
